meet jodie

Meet Jodie, the director of Every Step, where it all began! Jodie established Every Step, formerly known as Play Therapy with Jodie, in November 2019 and has since worked tirelessly to shape it into what it is today, with eight employees working across various locations. While she manages the operations, she also maintains her own client load. What a busy gal!

why every step?

During her time as Deputy Principal, Jodie worked with many children with additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and trauma. She recognised that conventional methods for managing behaviour and meltdowns were ineffective and that greater support was needed for these children. It was her experience as a parent of a child with complex needs that introduced her to play therapy.

a little about jodie

Born and raised in Tanunda, Jodie left for a time but eventually returned! She now lives there with her husband, Wade, their two boys, Henry and Oscar, and their Labrador pup, Daisy. When she’s off the clock, you’ll find her socialising at the tennis or spending weekends fishing with family at their shack.

favourite playroom resource

Jodie’s favourite area in the playroom is the play kitchen and home corner. She loves this space because it allows children to express and share their worlds through play, often reflecting how they interpret life at home or process their own experiences.

favourite childhood toy

As a little girl, Jodie fondly remembers setting up her Barbie dolls in the back of the car while her parents worked in the vineyard. It was pretend play at its best, sparking her imagination and creativity. She also loved being outside, where the natural surroundings added to her adventures, allowing her to create a world of endless possibilities with her beloved dolls.
